Art
At the Heritage School we offer a comprehensive introduction to a variety of art mediums and techniques. This includes, painting, drawing, collaging, design, mosaics, printmaking, and clay. Students participate in creating artworks with a wide range of subjects and styles. They learn about contemporary and historical art figures and topics, as well as how to analyze and discuss artworks. We display student work around the school to highlight their talent, this includes a collaborative mural representing our community. We offer an advanced art class for students who want to explore the arts more deeply and engage in learning new skills. The goal for the visual arts program is to allow our students to express themselves while also developing skills and comprehension. In the music department, students receive beginner level instruction on various instruments from different instrument families, including guitar, drums, ukulele, and keyboard. They used a digital audio workspace soundtrap to create electronic music and write lyrics. Students learn about a wide range of music genres from past to current artists. We offered an advanced music class where students formed a band. Each student specialized in a specific instrument and received individualized instruction. The class worked together to choose and rehearse songs to create a performance ensemble. The band held two school wide performances, in the fall and spring to show their dedication and growth in the musical arts.
