About
Validus Preparatory Academy is a small high school serving students in grades 9-12. Our mission is to provide a rigorous academic program within a supportive, inclusive and responsive environment that values student authenticity. At VPA, we will harness the inherent genius of our students to support them in becoming assets to the college and career fields of their choice. As part of our four year experience, we will instill a growth mindset, promote self-advocacy, and elicit the joy that comes from intellectual curiosity and self-development. Validus offers a rigorous curriculum, leading to New York State Regents and Local diplomas. We offer three advance placement courses AP English Literature, AP World History and AP Spanish Language. We are piloting an African American Studies Curriculum "Black History 365" with the goal of offering AP African American Studies in SY 2025. To date, Validus scholars have been accepted into top colleges and universities such as Cornell, NYU, Carnegie Mellon, Brandeis, Syracuse, Skidmore, Howard, Temple, Fisk, Gettysburg, and many SUNY/CUNY schools. Additionally, Validus rich school culture has been life-changing for our scholars. Celebrations such as Culture Day, Day of Giving Thanks, Decision Day, Annual Sports Banquet, Senior Award Night, Spirit Week, are woven into the fabric of the school. Validus is a proud partner of both College bound Initiative (CBI) and Outward Bound. Through our partnership with CBI, we offer our students extensive College preparation and exposure to colleges including college fairs and overnight college visits. Our Outward Bound partnership facilitates our CREW model and our community building experiences.
