About

At Mott Hall Bronx High School, we prepare all students to create a just and equitable world free from systemic racism and all other forms of oppression through a rigorous, balanced education. We provide opportunities so that students flourish academically, socially and emotionally and equip them with the tools, knowledge and confidence to become informed agents of change in the world. Mott Hall Bronx High School offers open access to the prestigious International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma. The IB Diploma Programme provides a demanding, internationally recognized high school curriculum that prepares students for college-level work. Students engage in learning experiences beyond the typical high school curriculum, including community service, an independent research project, and an introductory philosophy course that investigates ways of knowing. Students who earn certificates or the full diploma in the program can earn up to one year of college credit. The school provides a family-like atmosphere where students are challenged and enriched by activities that address their development.

The visual arts program at Mott Hall Bronx High School is designed to prepare students for the International Baccalaureate (IB) program. Students are engaged in creating an art exhibition in their senior year; a culmination of work created over their time in the program. IB requires a process portfolio that includes demonstration of experimentation, critical analysis of known artists, written planning and intentions, refinement of their work and reflection. There is also an IB requirement for a comparative study of historical and:or modern artists, which includes research and analyses of multiple aspects of their work.
