About

Fordham Leadership Academy (FLA), caters to the whole child by our unwavering commitment to developing future leaders that are prepared for the opportunities and challenges of the 21st century via academic excellence, character development, and exposure to real world experiences. All scholars at FLA will receive an academically challenging experience that includes the application of theory in the real world through a series of field experiences connected to the curricula and presented upon graduation through capstone projects. FLA scholars will be expected to participate in AP courses no later than in grade 11, College Now, Advanced College level courses with university partners and internships (some paid) and complete Leadership Commitment activities (community service) in order to demonstrate mastery of competencies for graduation. Upon graduation, 100% of FLA scholars will have a post-high school plan and will have applied to colleges/universities by Spring of Senior Year. FLA is also a FutureReadyNYC school offering the best of college and career exploration and preparation in Technology (Computer Science and Software Development), one of the fastest growing and highest paid industries in our city. Students will explore a range of careers, acquire 21st century employability skills including financial literacy, earn paid work-based learning opportunities and early college credits and credentials, engage in 1:1 advising and will graduate prepared for college and/or careers in NYCs growing tech industry. FLA is also part of the Career Readiness and Modern Youth Apprenticeship (CRMYA) program, which helps us support career readiness for all our students. We have courses that help our ninth and tenth graders explore their career interests and develop readiness skills. FLA scholars can apply for apprenticeships in tech, finance, and business, which allows them to earn and learn while in high school. FLA is an Early College Scholars school, and this means eligible incoming 9th grade scholars will earn at least 24 college credits upon graduation, not including any additional college credits earned through any of our other programs. Our vision is to prepare all scholars for meaningful post-secondary opportunities that will enable them to compete in the fast-paced job market for a multitude of careers as a means to financial independence. Excellence is our mission. We are part of the Career Readiness and Modern Youth Apprenticeship (CRMYA) pilot, which helps us support career readiness for all our students. We have courses that help our ninth and tenth graders explore their career interests and develop readiness skills. Our students can apply for apprenticeships in tech, finance, and business, which allows them to earn and learn while in high school.
