About

Bronx River High School is the top-performing unscreened high school in District 8 (2022-2023 School Quality Guide), and we are ranked 12th of all Bronx high schools, including charter schools, for Impact (2022-2023 School Performance Dashboard). We achieve this success by a laser-focused mission: to ensure that students are ready for college or career, both academically and socially, and that students feel deeply connected to our school community. To achieve this mission, our school offers one counselor for each grade, freshmen start with one counselor who stays with them until they graduate. All freshmen students will be assigned to an Advisory class, which meets several times a week with the same Advisor for all 4 years. We offer Peer Group Connection, where freshmen meet once a week with a 12th grade Peer Leader. We offer a two year College Preparatory sequence where 11th grade students take a year long College and Career Prep class and in 12th grade students work one-on-one with a dedicated College Counselor. Students attending our school are eligible to apply to the Bronx STEAM Center. Students accepted to Bronx STEAM will spend a portion of their school day and at least two years engaging in high quality Career and Technical Education classes at the Bronx STEAM Center in one of six career pathways aligned to critical sectors such as healthcare and technology. With support across our school and the Bronx STEAM Center, students will earn early college credit, industry credentials, participate in paid work experiences and receive personalized advising to graduate onto higher education and/or employment in family sustaining careers.
