About

Our school supports students in mastering a challenging curriculum, guiding them to college entrance, and preparing them for success. Through exposure to state-of-the-art instruction and support, in a respectful and welcoming environment, students are inspired to set the highest academic standards and career goals for themselves. Our students learn to think critically, communicate effectively, and be open to new experiences. They are trained to become lifelong learners who are receptive to a wide range of ideas and beliefs. We are also a P.R.O.S.E. (Progressive Redesign Opportunity Schools for Excellence) school, with a demonstrated record of effective school leadership, collaboration, and trust to implement innovative practices outside of existing Department of Education rules. In addition, we are a School-Based Virtual Learning (SBVL) School, allowing some hybrid programming for 11th and 12th-grade students, and college course offerings each semester from National Equity Lab. In turn, a strong school community - families, teachers, and staff - equally committed to these high ideals supports our students and provides a solid foundation for their success.

Art
The South Bronx Preparatory (SBP) arts program has an interdisciplinary focus geared toward self-discovery and promoting identity awareness. This year our focus included the Common Core Learning Standards as we continued to build literacy through the arts. Our in-house arts department helped us boost parental involvement, implemented a Capacity for Imaginative Thinking Focus and Notice Deeply, which further encouraged critical thinking skills inside the classrooms. We celebrated students by strategically showcasing their artwork in the hallway and transitioned the arts into our history curriculum.
