Academic Highlights: Teachers integrate technology by using Google Classroom and other blended learning programs to expand online coursework, self-paced, project and inquiry-based learning opportunities. Chrome books are available for every student., Our student's partner with Make the Road New York, and have participated in several marches and rallies against social injustice through our community. Our Restorative Justice program offers an alternative to suspension. Students also take Social Justice elective courses including Bio-Ethics, Law and Justice, Gender Studies and Financial Literacy., Students are assigned a school counselor from the start of their time at BSSJ. This counselor will stay with them for the entire time they are at our school to ensure they have a trusted adult they can turn to in time of academic and social-emotional need., Students can earn college credits through our University in the High School Program and College Now and AP credits in any of our 5 AP courses

Humanities & Interdisciplinary
The Brooklyn School for Social Justice (BSSJ) offers scholars the opportunity to earn a high school diploma and transferable college credits simultaneously. Our Scholars can enroll in the University in the High School Program (UHS) through SUNY-Albany. BSSJ students will take courses that explore and discuss issues that have a direct impact on their community such as racism, gentrification, food scarcity and economic inequities. They will engage in social justice by participating in, but not limited to, voter registration drives, demonstrations against gun violence or unfair policing and other issues. Students will embrace social justice concepts to be in service to their community.
