Frederick Douglass Academy III is a college preparatory academy. We are an Early College Smart Scholars school partnered with Bronx Community College (BCC) where students have access to earn course credits towards an associate degree, if eligible, at no cost to their family. Our students have maintained a graduation rate at or above 87% for several years, and we project to have a 90%+ graduation rate for the upcoming school year. Our mission is to empower every scholar, every day through culturally relevant and engaging instruction with support for the whole child.

Academic Highlights: Early College Smart Scholars School partnered with Bronx Community College allowing students to earn college credits at no cost., Our scholars participate in College Now and we are National Honor's Society school, Advanced Placement Courses Available, College in High School courses (Barnard College at Columbia University/Microeconomics, UPenn/Grit Lab: the psychology of passion, perseverance and success) through National Equity Grit Lab, Additional course offerings such as Coding, Robotics, Entrepreneurship, College Exploration, Dance and Yoga.

The visual arts class met daily throughout the school year. Towards the end of the school year our scholars visited the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Museum of Modern Art. Select classes were chosen to participate in a band program, once a week.

FDA III empowers every scholar, every day through culturally relevant programs: a structured and sequential curriculum, enrichment programs, mentorship and guidance, wellness supports, family engagement, clubs, sports, community development, and academic support. Our school provides AP courses, NYU College Advising, College Now classes at Lehman College, and opportunities for Mentorship and Summer Internships with Bronxworks.
