Program Details
College Preparatory (K27A)
Humanities & Interdisciplinary

Our high school program is designed to prepare all students for success in college. All students are required to study four years of English, mathematics, social studies, and science to provide the well-rounded foundation of knowledge they will need for any college major. Similarly, students participate in Spanish language, PE and arts programming throughout high school. Internships in junior year and college advisory in junior and senior years ensure guidance through the transition to college.

Method:
Requirement:
Ed. Opt. programs admit students across all academic levels. Students are grouped into Low, Middle, and High categories based on a composite of their academic data. One-third of offers are made to students in each category.
Priority:
  • (Group 1) Continuing 8th graders
  • (Group 2) Brooklyn students or residents
  • (Group 3) New York City residents

About the School

We believe that students learn best in a diverse and integrated environment where they can compare what they think with the knowledge of adults and their classmates. Students learn to read, write and think critically, debate, and develop new knowledge and ideas. Through CUNY's PERC program, peer tutors work alongside teachers in algebra and living environment courses. Students in every grade can participate in writing and theater workshops with the Atlantic Theater Company teaching artists. Social studies teachers engage students in projects and seminars culminating in our Senior Brooklyn History exhibit. Weekly Circles of 10-15 students and 1 faculty create the community and camaraderie essential to a truly integrated school.
