About

Fordham Leadership Academy (FLA) is committed to educating the whole child through academic excellence, character development, and real-world experiences that prepare scholars to lead and thrive in the 21st century. Our mission is to develop future leaders who are equipped to navigate the opportunities and challenges of a rapidly evolving world. At the heart of our academic program is a robust focus on Computer Science, with specialized coursework in Software Engineering and Cybersecurity. Through our partnership with Project Lead The Way (PLTW), students also engage in hands-on Engineering experiences that foster innovation, problem-solving, and technical skills. FLA is proud to be a FutureReadyNYC school, offering a comprehensive college and career exploration program centered on Technology and Software Development, one of the fastest-growing and highest-paying industries in New York City. Our scholars explore a wide range of tech careers, gain 21st-century employability skills such as financial literacy, and earn early college credits and industry-recognized credentials. At FLA, we emphasize career-connected learning through a variety of internships, apprenticeships, and real-world experiences that are directly tied to classroom learning. As part of the Career Readiness and Modern Youth Apprenticeship (CRMYA) initiative, FLA offers students the opportunity to explore career interests in grades 9 and 10, and apply for apprenticeships in tech, finance, and business, allowing them to earn a salary while they learn. FLA is also an Early College Scholars school, enabling eligible 9th-grade students to graduate with at least 24 college credits, not including additional credits earned through AP courses, College Now, and university partnerships.

Computer Science & Technology

The Computer Science and Technology Careers program at FLA is a dynamic, hands-on learning experience designed for students entering 9th grade who are passionate about technology, innovation, and problem-solving. This four-year program prepares students for both college and career pathways in computer science, information technology, and emerging tech fields. Students will explore foundational and advanced topics such as: Programming and software development, Web and mobile app design, Cybersecurity and data privacy, Robotics and automation, Artificial intelligence and machine learning. Through project-based learning, industry-aligned curriculum, and real-world experiences such as internships, mentorships, and certifications, students will graduate with the skills and credentials needed to thrive in the tech-driven workforce or pursue further education in STEM fields.
