Bedford Academy was created to provide a safe, supportive and effective learning community for students, parents and guardians by allowing all members of the school community to understand the value and mission of our school. Our mission is simple, education is the birthright of every child. Our school respects the cultural, racial and ethnic differences that exist in our nation. Our core values are based on love, discipline and structure coupled with a strong emphasis on academic, social and cultural development while providing scholars with tools to develop critical thinking skills and a strong work ethic in order to become a responsible global citizen and an effective change agent. Our scholars focus on Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. There are a number of courses, partnerships and programs we provide: Courses: AP Statistics, AP U.S. History, AP Computer Science, AP Seminar, AP World History, AP Calculus, AP Literature and Composition, AP Language and Composition, AP African American History, Latino Studies. In addition, Bedford Academy operates Male and Female Empowerment Courses MBK/MSK, Entrepreneurship, Financial Literacy Courses, SAT/ACT Prep Courses, African Drumming and Robotics. Bedford Academy's Dual Credit Courses and Partnerships include Delaware State University, Virginia State University, Syracuse University, Medgar Evers College, St. Joseph's University Long Island University, Touro University, St. John's University and Monroe College. Additional partnerships include National Association of Black Engineers, National Honor Society and the Brooklyn Navy Yard/Career and Technical Education dual-enrollment Program. In conclusion, Bedford Academy provides a Summer Bridge Academy, College and Career Readiness Program, Freshmen Seminar Program, Junior and Senior Seminar Program and Student Government coupled with the Principal Advisory Board.
