Health Professions
In addition to four years of English, social studies, mathematics, and science, students may be selected into the highly competitive EMT-B or Pre-Nursing courses. To earn NYS EMT-B certification, students must pass all of their required classes, the NYS Health Occupations Core Curriculum, and the EMT-B exam to be certified. For EMT-B only, students must be 18 by May of their senior year to be eligible.

About the School
The Institute for Health Professions at Cambria Heights is a New York Performance Standards Consortium school that prepares students for college and career through a challenging and rich curriculum. Students take their learning beyond the classroom by collaboratively solving problems and completing labs based on the realities of emergency medicine, nursing and hospital care. Selected students participate in training exercises at Northwell Health's Center for Learning and Innovation, complete rotations on an ambulance or in a long-term care facility, and earn CTE certification in Emergency Medical Services. Selected students participate in a rigorous Pre-Nursing Program that includes hands-on skill labs and supervised field experiences.
