Art

The mission of Professional Performing Arts High School (PPAS) is to provide professional performing arts instruction to all students in grades six through twelve in a variety of disciplines. Students are also provided a rigorous academic curriculum that will lead to exceptional higher education choices that include, but are not limited to, top performing arts colleges and conservatories. The performing arts curriculum offers all students a unique opportunity to study the arts in a professional environment. Professional artists offer training to meet the performing arts learning needs of students who are passionate about the arts and committed to the study of the arts. High school students major in professional studios in dance, drama, musical theater, vocal music, and film (11th and 12th grades.). Middle school students participate in a variety of performing arts classes to increase their exposure to various types of performing art forms. These classes include acting, dance, vocal, and music appreciation. PPAS has a unique programming structure; our school partners with professional arts organizations that provide top quality instruction in professional settings. Students take classes in site-specific high caliber studios, which include off-Broadway theaters, concert halls, and ballet and tap dance studios. Students present concerts, plays, and other productions throughout the school year, both in-house and in premier performance spaces across New York City.

Performing Arts

In partnership with Rosie's Theater Kids, students receive pre-conservatory training in vocal music, dance, and acting. All first and second year students participate in an annual musical theater concert. All third and fourth year students perform in an end-of-year main-stage musical production. Audition Location: Maravel Arts Center, 445 W 45th Street.
