The Celia Cruz Bronx High School of Music is the only high school dedicated to music performance in The Bronx. It is for students committed to studying music in a demanding college preparatory environment. In addition to double blocks of music instruction, students are expected to complete coursework that leads to an Advanced Regents diploma, college acceptances, and career readiness. Celia Cruz was founded on the belief that all students are entitled to high-quality music education and offers enrollment to students based only on an evaluation of their musical talent and a passion for performance. Prior academic performance and attendance are not taken into consideration. Celia Cruz has a higher percentage of students with disabilities than Bronx and New York City averages, yet has maintained a 99% or higher graduation rate the past three years.
