About

Thurgood Marshall Academy is an academically rigorous environment where college and career readiness drive instruction and practices. Every student will embrace their global responsibility, have a vision for their future, a plan for realizing that vision, and the knowledge skills, and experiences for setting in motion. The school has an emphasis on Social Justice as well as Community Service. 90% of our students graduate in four years. TMA serves grades 6-12 with a specific purpose of preparing students for college or to move directly into a variety of career and training programs. As a school of approximately 500 students, we are able to know and support our students in this small community. We have established over twenty community partnerships that range from work-based learning opportunities to street squash. Students are expected to participate in college courses through our partnerships with different colleges and universities during the 10th and 11th grades. We offer mentoring programs dedicated to both young women and men. Our sports include male and female basketball teams and a male squash team. Grades 6-8 programming includes wrap-around supports with our extended learning time partner, SOBRO which runs from 3:05-6:00PM Mondays through Fridays free of charge. 76% of students passed core courses.
