Art
Art is a graduation requirement for students at Mott Hall High school. At least 2 credits must be obtained by successfully completing Art 1 during grade 9. In grades 11 and 12, students have the option of revisiting art and further developing their artistic skills by taking Art 2 as an elective class for which they will receive another 2 credits. Art classes at Mott Hall High School aim to develop creativity and provide a space for self-expression. Students are encouraged to explore a range of materials and techniques both traditional and contemporary. From building clay vessels and observational drawing, to painting with acrylics and using 3D printers, the goal is for students to develop artistic skills and explore their identity. While creating artwork is the main focus, students are also introduced to artworks from culturally diverse backgrounds from across many different eras. Efforts are made to include one art-viewing field trip per term.
