Arts Summary
Our studio-in-art class is designed to provide a foundation for advanced courses. Emphasis is placed on understanding the elements of art and principles of design as a basis for composition. Students explore a variety of artists, art processes and materials such as drawing, painting, printmaking, two & three-dimensional design, and digital art. Student artwork reflects aesthetics, and cultural and historical contexts. Willingness to get involved in the creative process is a more important requirement than the student's talent or previous experience. Students will have the opportunity to experience other areas such as: studio in photography, media arts, studio in sculpture: ceramics, and sneaker: graphic design. Offering a small and individually focused learning environment, The Grand Concourse Project at Eagle Academy offers a unique approach giving young musicians the opportunity to pursue serious, pre-professional, performance-focused music studies along with a rigorous academic curriculum, all during the school day. In addition to helping students build strong core skills as musicians, the school prepares them to comfortably improvise and compose, to understand and utilize music technologies, to collaborate with other musicians, and to celebrate and perform the music of living composers. An internationally recognized music faculty works one-on-one, in small groups, and in ensemble rehearsals with students, helping them grow, learn and excel.

The Early College Program at Eagle Academy for the Young Men of Harlem is a dynamic initiative designed to empower young men of color with the opportunity to earn both high school and college credits simultaneously. Through strategic partnerships with local colleges and universities, this program provides motivated students with access to rigorous, college-level coursework while still in high school placing them on a fast track toward higher education and long-term career success. Rooted in Eagle Academy's mission to break down systemic barriers and expand opportunities, the Early College Program supports academic excellence, builds college readiness, and nurtures a strong college-going culture. Students not only gain a head start on their post-secondary education, but also develop the confidence, discipline, and critical thinking skills essential for thriving in college and beyond. By bridging the gap between high school and higher education, the Early College Program redefines what's possible for young men of color in Harlem, offering them a transformative path toward academic achievement, economic mobility, and lifelong success.
