Note: The opening and co-location of this school at 88-15 182nd Street, Queens, NY, 11423 is subject to approval by the Panel for Educational Policy (PEP). The PEP is expected to vote on this on January 22, 2025. The first of its kind in NYC Public Schools, HBCU (Historically Black College & University) Early College Prep is an innovative tuition-free early college high school offering college courses and the HBCU experience beginning in 9th grade. Scholars attending HBCU Early College Prep will earn up to sixty four college credits for an Associate Degree in Liberal Arts from the HBCU-Delaware State University (DSU) and are guaranteed admission to DSU. Scholars become immersed in the rich traditions of an HBCU through deeply rooted principles that emphasize cultural pride, community support, academic excellence, and social responsibility. All scholars receive mentorship from DSU faculty and take frequent day and overnight trips to HBCUs.

HBCU Early College Prep offers students the opportunity to join a supportive and nurturing community, experience a distinctive college campus environment beyond NYC, and earn an associate’s degree upon graduation from high school. As part of a pioneering national model for early college high schools, our program is designed to recognize each student’s potential and provide the guidance needed to achieve excellence in both academics and personal growth. This program gives a priority to students and residents of District 29 for up to 40% of seats, students and residents of Districts 27 and 28 for 40% of seats, and students and residents of Queens for up to 10% of seats
