About

Murray Hill Academy is a college and career preparatory high school for students who prefer a small school environment. We have a highly competitive, specialized Computer Science & Math program that includes 3 years of computer science instruction. Our rigorous curriculum ensures ALL students take 4 years of all core subjects and at least 4 of 7 A.P. classes offered, ending with all students earning an Advanced Regents diploma in a student centered environment. Students learn through discussion and project based classrooms as well as outside the classroom with expeditionary learning trips that travel in NYC and as far as Europe. MHA covers all necessary supports for every child to apply to college and be career ready. All students are supported by our College Counselor, Guidance Counselor, and Social Worker, who engage in college and career activities and trips from grades 9-12, including FAFSA, Personal Narrative statements in ELA, and an SAT tutoring class in Mathematics. We foster independence, growth mindset, and lifelong learning through our social-emotional curriculum and advisory program that supports the whole child and has been celebrated as a District Exemplar School. We have a highly selective, rolling admissions, option for students to enroll throughout the year who may be unhappy at their school and desire a more challenging, small school, setting. We earned the top score on 10/10 categories on our School Quality Review.

Mathematics & Computer Science(A19B)
Computer Science & Technology, Science & Math

A multi-year Computer Science track offers courses in Computer Science that challenge students to solve real world problems using analytical skills. They cover the basic principles of Computer Science, Web Programming, and Advanced Placement Computer Science classes that go deeper into Software Engineering. Through Computer Science course offerings, students will learn computational thinking, problem solving, and critical thinking. Students' success in the real world will greatly depend on their ability to problem solve and utilize technology in their everyday lives. We offer Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II, Pre-Calculus and Financial Math. Students who take high-level math receive higher scores on the SAT (includes the "Passport to Advanced Math," that requires the manipulation of complex equations). Students who take high-level math courses are more likely to graduate from college and get higher salaries than their peers who did not take those classes.
