The High School for Language and Diplomacy (LAD) offers a college-preparatory education. Our college preparatory pathway offers a four-year sequence including Advanced Placement Classes including AP Pre-Calculus, AP Calculus, AP Computer Science, AP Environmental Science, AP English Language and AP English Literature, AP Psychology, AP US History, AP US Government and Politics. We offer Mandarin and Spanish as our World Language options. Fostering Lifelong Learners: Preparing students for college and beyond through inquiry, differentiation, and project- based learning that fosters critical thinking and problem solving. Business Management Pathway Program: Our school is a FutureReadyNYC school offering the best of college and career exploration and preparation in Business, one of the fastest growing and highest paid industries in our city. Our Business Managment pathway program engages students in career-connected and college preparatory courses including Business Management, Business Communications, Career Foundations, Computer Applications, AP Computer Science, Marketing, Personal Finance, and Virtual Enterprise. We partner with Baruch College to offer Business College courses to our high school students. Work-Based Learning Opportunities: Students observe or engage in real work in the workplace or from industry professionals promoting the development of broad transferable skills. Collaboration: All stakeholders work hand in hand to create amazing experiences for adolescents. This includes students, parents, teachers, community-based organizations and our partnerships with Behind the Book, Cleary Gottlieb, Grant Associates and Morningside. Dual Language Programs in Mandarin and Spanish: Students to learn academic content using a roller coaster model in the Humanities classes while learning to speak, read and write in another language at the same time. Biliteracy Seal: Our program will provide students the unique opportunity to earn the Biliteracy Seal on their HS Diploma. Community Service Learning: Students are encouraged to be proactive and responsible community members through a 25-hour per year community service requirement that includes a range of community service experiences and internships and is recognized with a Service Seal on the HS Diploma. Student Leadership & Voice: Advisory Career Readiness Club Civic Engagement Clear Gottlieb Law Firm Mentor Program Debate Club Educators Rising Program Peer Tutoring National Honor Society School Clubs Student Government All entering students are matched to an advisor and an advisory group that they stay with throughout their four years of high school. The advisor serves as the academic point person for each student and their family. Participation in community service is also an expectation and a component of Advisory, and advisory groups. Advisories complete one or more collective community service projects throughout their 4 years together. All students work with the College Advisor on career and college preparation activities during advisory. The High School for Language and Diplomacy encourages student leadership through Student Government, Advisory Leaders, National Honor Society, Student-led Peer Tutoring Program, Student Equity Team, Student Publications Ladirature, School Leadership Team, Student-led Parent Teacher Conferences, and student-led heritage celebrations. Annual school wide activities include PGC Potluck Day, March Madness, school wide ice-skating trip, talent show, Broadway shows, staff vs. student tournaments (volleyball, dodge ball, basketball), school spirit weeks, cultural heritage celebrations, and school wide community service events.

Humanities & Interdisciplinary
Through a challenging academic program that provides opportunities for public service and global awareness, our students learn the craft of international diplomacy while developing their technological and communication skills. Students also have the opportunity to achieve proficiency in Mandarin through an intensive, engaging program designed for students of all levels, including those who have never studied the language before.
