About the School

George Westinghouse Career and Technical Education (CTE) High School was established in 1919, making it one of the oldest and renowned CTE high schools in New York City. Our students must major in one of five CTE programs: Culinary Arts, IT Support and Cybersecurity, Electrical Installation Technology, Computer Science, Data Science under our Future Ready NYC program. Our CTE programs are a far cry from the vocational and training programs of the past. Instead, they are rigorous, industry focused pathways that are grounded in real world applications and enhanced by work-based learning opportunities. Our programs prepare our students for further study in college or early careers, making our students career and college ready upon graduation. Students study academic and technical skills simultaneously and must meet required standards for both. All academic requirements must be met for a diploma, and the CTE pathway gives students the opportunity to receive a CTE endorsement to the diploma. In addition, various industry certification exams are offered. Our students’ education is rounded out by PSAL sports, various clubs and student activities. We expect our students to embody the qualities established in the Westinghouse Warrior Profile. Our students are Wise, Aware, Resilient, Responsible, Inquiring, Organized and Respectful.
