About the School
The Maxine Greene High School for Imaginative Inquiry (MGHS) is a learning community in which deep engagement with works of art enhances the imaginative capacity of all students. In partnership with The Maxine Greene Institute our teachers work with the Institute's Teaching Artists to explore Imaginative Inquiry across the curriculum. Through our Restorative Practices, we work to foster the sense of self-worth, empathy, and agency necessary for students to become participatory citizens who will create a more just, humane, and vibrant world.
Academic Highlights: Summer internship programs are available with Columbia University along with summer youth job opportunities through our SYEP Career Ready program., Tuition-free courses are offered through CUNY College Now which partners with various schools including John Jay and BMCC in addition to Baruch College. C, Specific aesthetic inquiry/art units of study are planned and taught with teaching artists from the Maxine Greene Institute., Arts and aesthetic inquiry-based instruction are integrated across all subject curriculums.
