About
At the Kurt Hahn School, it is our mission to challenge, engage, and empower young people so that they become informed, skilled, and courageous leaders. Kurt Hahn is an NYC Outward Bound School and a member of the NY Performance Standards Consortium. As a consortium school, students present performance-based assessment tasks (PBATs) in lieu of the NY State Regents (however, students must take the ELA Regents). At Kurt Hahn, we prepare students for college, citizenship, and the workplace by bringing to life the principles of Outward Bound: that combining intensive challenge with guided support leads to students achieving far more than they ever thought possible. Kurt Hahn uses hands-on learning that has real-world application to ignite a joy for learning and discovery in our students. At our school, leadership, active citizenship, and character development go hand-in-hand with academic rigor and challenge. We are part of the Career Readiness and Modern Youth Apprenticeship (CRMYA) and the Future Ready NYC (FRNYC) initiatives, which helps us support career readiness for all of our students. In addition, through FRNYC, students will take courses specific to social and human services. Our students can apply for apprenticeships in tech, finance, and business, which allows them to earn and learn while in high school. One of the best parts of the Kurt Hahn School is our Explore Week--students get to take one class of their choosing and spend the week out exploring our beautiful city!. We are part of the Career Readiness and Modern Youth Apprenticeship (CRMYA) pilot, which helps us support career readiness for all our students. We have courses that help our ninth and tenth graders explore their career interests and develop readiness skills.
