Science, Technology and Research (STAR) Early College is a 6-12 grade public school that is located in the Flatbush section of Brooklyn, NY. The school opened its doors in 2003 and currently serves more than 675 students in its middle and high school. In the neighborhood, STAR is known as Brooklyn Best Kept Secret and the Crown Jewel of District 17 because it offers students a bold approach that blends high school and college in a rigorous yet supportive program, compressing the time it takes them to simultaneously earn a high school diploma and up to 73 transferable college credits tuition free from Brooklyn College, CUNY, which is located about a mile away. STAR's mission is to help all our students graduate from high school with at least 30 college credits or complete one full year of college, while preparing them to pursue careers in science, mathematics, technology, and health related professions.

Welcome to STAR Early College, a 6th through 12th grade school, founded on a bold approach and based on the theory of action that academic rigor, combined with the opportunity to save time and money, is a powerful motivator for students to work hard and meet serious intellectual challenges as they simultaneously earn a high school diploma and up to two years of transferable college credit from Brooklyn College, CUNY's, tuition free.After being admitted to STAR, students become eligible to apply to our Brooklyn STEAM Center program which is located at the Brooklyn Navy Yard's cutting-edge facility. These students will pick one CTE Pathway in Information Technology, Media and Design, Engineering, Construction or Culinary Arts to study in the 11th and 12th grade.
