Comprehensive CTE program in film and TV production aimed to build a more inclusive pipeline of historically underrepresented, college and career ready students interested in the below-the-line production jobs in the film and television industries.
- (Group 1) Priority to Queens students or residents
- (Group 2) Then to New York City residents
- Applicants eligible for free or reduced price lunch will be considered first for 63% of seats.
- For the remaining 37% of seats, all students will be considered.

About the School
The Motion Picture Technical High School is a game-changing addition to New York City's educational landscape. Opening September 2024 in Northern Queens, Motion Picture Tech is a trailblazing CTE and student pathways program set to revolutionize the film and television industry's talent pipeline. In collaboration with the Roybal School of Film and Television Fund, Motion Picture Tech is dedicated to forging a more inclusive and equitable future for the world of film and television production. Our mission centers on creating opportunities for all students with a passion for below-the-line production careers. Our carefully crafted curriculum provides comprehensive training in both the technical and creative facets of the industry, ensuring our students are primed for both college and career success. From cinematography to editing, sound design to set construction, and special effects to post-production, we equip our students with hands-on experience, state-of-the-art technology, and invaluable industry connections to excel in these essential roles. Located in the heart of Northern Queens, Motion Picture Tech enjoys close proximity to the bustling film and television industry of New York City. This geographic advantage grants our students unparalleled access to industry professionals, coveted internships, and an immersive learning environment that mirrors real-world industry demands. Starting in Fall 2025, Motion Picture Tech will be located at 53-16 Northern Boulevard, Queens, NY 11377.
