Liberty High School Academy for Newcomers (A39A)

We offer a warm and welcoming environment to newcomer students or to newcomer ENL 9th and 10th students who are struggling in their current high school placement. LHS offers a SIFE program to those at risk and or are returning to the academic setting.

Requirement:
Transfer high schools are designed to serve students who, based on their grade or age, are off-track to accumulate enough academic credits to meet high school graduation requirements. Only applicants ranked by the school will receive an offer.

About the School

Liberty High School Academy for Newcomers (LHS) is a small transfer high school serving new immigrant students or students that still require English acquisition in grades 9 through 12. Liberty offers a stand alone English program only. Our school community is dedicated to educating students from diverse cultural and academic backgrounds while celebrating our diversity. Liberty High School works with our Community Based Organization to offer students unique opportunities around New York City. This includes Learn to Work opportunities, college visits, career fairs, and recreational activities when school is closed. LHS is part of AP4ALL and CS4ALL. There are several Advanced Placement courses offered during the school day. We have an active Robotics Team, College Office, Arts Collaborative program, successful Running Club, active Alumni Association, and peer mentoring. We believe in supporting our students through after school programs, Saturday Regents Prep and a two year SIFE program.

Academic Highlights: Learn to Work, Robotics, AP4ALL & CS4ALL Programs, Peer Mentoring, National Honor Society
