Air Force Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (R17C)
JROTC

This program aims to educate and train high school cadets in citizenship, promote community service, instill responsibility, character, and self-discipline, and provide instruction in air and space fundamentals, leadership, and wellness. The program is grounded in the Air Force core values of integrity first, service before self, and excellence in all we do.

Requirement:
Ed. Opt. programs admit students across all academic levels. Students are grouped into Low, Middle, and High categories based on a composite of their academic data. One-third of offers are made to students in each category.
Priority:
  • (Group 1) Priority to Staten Island students or residents
  • (Group 2) Then to New York City residents

About the School

Susan E. Wagner High School consists of unique small learning communities referred to as Learning Centers, and is the Chancellor's Arts Designated School for Staten Island. Each Learning Center has an assigned assistant principal, teacher coordinator, guidance counselor, dean, and attendance assistant, all of whom work together to provide a nurturing environment and a wide range of academic support services. In addition to our academic programs, our many extracurricular and co-curricular activities help to develop well-rounded, socially conscious, respectful citizens who are prepared to enter college and the work force.
