About the School
UASGC provides students with a career-centered, college-preparatory education focused on business and engineering pathways in the field of global commerce. At UASGC we strive to provide a culturally relevant education for all our students. This means that students learn about, appreciate, and celebrate their culture and unique identity, in addition to studying other cultures and diverse perspectives. Instruction focuses on students building a social justice perspective in which they learn how to identify, analyze and solve real-world problems. Our small size ensures that all students are known well and strongly supported by their teachers in and out of the classroom. 9th graders are enrolled in the Global Business Academy . The Global Business Academy @ The Urban Assembly School for Global Commerce is an early post-career and college course that helps advance the positive development of young people by promoting the practices and principles of essential life skills, business skills, financial literacy, and early college and career planning. We work with supply chain companies, universities, community-based organizations, multi-service organizations, corporate institutions, cultural institutions, universities, and government agencies. Industry partners provide students with paid internships starting as early as 10th grade. Students go on frequent field trips to industry sites to learn about different career pathways. Class sizes are small, with a focus on collaborative learning through rigorous coursework. AP Courses are offered starting in 10th grade, along with two language programs in Spanish and Mandarin (Chinese). Eleventh graders can attend Hostos Community College for college coursework. We offer PSAL sports as well as various clubs such as Women's empowerment, Anime, Video game Club, Dungeons & Dragons, Science Research club, and many more.
